1. The habit of Scarcity Mentality causes us to buy things we even don't need.

We are able to see that there are thousands and thousands of products and yet we feel that there is scarcity in the world. The advertisements are aimed at giving the feeling that if you don't get it now you are going to miss the wonderful offer forever. 
The consume and deplete has been our routine habit for decades and it gives the feeling that we must hold our stocks and to ensure that the future is safe. This habit gives the feeling of scarcity.

2. A mere thinking that we have acheived something by buying an expensive product at a great discount price.

The retail, digital or food all run their business in discounts day after day. It is just a feeling that we are buying in discount. The strategy is if the price is shown as extremely high and too expensive and then it is given for the discount then we tend to buy it for the feeling of acheivement it generates.
3. We feel that our social peers are liking certain products and hence we judge that our decision making is correct if we buy that product.

Our decision making ability is biased with the decision making of the society to the larger extent and this long standing habit causes us to make certain purchases. Now adding to it all the digital sales have also incorporated the social review and social linking with the products. This creates a trend to follow certain social pattern and with big data and modern tools and your next buying behavior is already predicted. You are now waiting for the launch of the next version of the most popular social product in the trend.
4. The mind likes easy things and when the words like easy and free are introduced in the sales, it really becomes easy to sell 

We grow by learning and failing. The same applies to our lives during our adulthood and old age. But, we feel we are grown up and we want to get into easy mode. This easy mode mentality makes us feel that we are succeeding in our lives without failing or doing something wrong. 

In other words, growth happens when we learn and understand through the failures. To build ourselves positively we need to undergo the full process of life and what our inner urge requires for our satisfaction. The free temporarily gives a feeling of Satisfaction and hence we are likely buying things we don't require.

In the digital world, the sales is just going to be more emotional and psychological with the core habits and behavior pattern of humans and the digital companies are aiming to compete under the digital banner where the core principles remain the same human touch in a digital way.
